BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Thomas F. George is chancellor and professor of chemistry and physics at the University of Missouri–St. Louis.  As chancellor since 2003, he oversees academic and administrative operations of a university with 17,000 students, 2,500 faculty and staff, 40 academic buildings and a $200 million annual operating budget.  As an active member in the St. Louis community, he serves on numerous civic boards. In addition to his role as campus and community leader, Chancellor George contributes at the state and national levels, such as recently serving as president of the Coalition of Metropolitan and Urban Universities. An active researcher in chemistry and physics, Chancellor George has been acknowledged by an honorary doctorate in physics. He also has received an honorary doctorate in education. Chancellor George is also an accomplished jazz pianist. We are proud to have his unique expertise as a part of our event, and we look forward to hearing the vision he has for us to help our residents live the healthiest and most productive lives possible.

BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Dong was born in 1969 at Dalian, China. He received his Ph.D. at Institute of High Energy Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, in 1999. After that, Dr. Dong joined the Physical Theoretical Chemistry Laboratory of the University of Oxford as a Visiting Professor, Kansas State University as Postdoc Fellow, the National Autonomous University of Mexico as Visiting Professor, the Mexican Institute of Petroleum as Postdoc Fellow and Distinguished Visiting Professor, and the Superior School of Physics and Mathematics, National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) as full-time Professor through the program of excellent position, and he has a permanent position as Professor at IPN since 2007. He is the Regular Member of Mexican Academy of Sciences since 2012. He is the (Academic) Editors of Open Physics, Advances in Research, Physical Review & Research International, Transactions on Theoretical Physics, Open Journal of Modern Physics, the Editorial Members of The Open Nuclear & Particle Physics Journal, Advances in High Energy Physics, Scientific Journal of Physical Science, Journal of Basic and Applied Research international, Journal of Electrical and Control Engineering. He has authored over 170 papers, one book Chapter, and two books published by Springer. The citations are more than 4300 by Google Scholar.

BIOGRAPHY
Abbas Mohammed (Senior Member, IEEE) received the Ph.D. degree from Liverpool University, Liverpool, U.K., in 1992 and the Swedish “Docent degree” (equivalent to a D.Sc. or two Ph.D. degrees in different areas of research) in radio communications and navigation from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Karlskrona, Sweden, in 2001.,He is a Professor of Telecommunications Theory at the School of Engineering, Blekinge Institute of Technology. He was employed by Ericsson AB, where he consulted on power control standardization issues for third generation (3G) systems, and a visiting lecturer to several Swedish universities. He is the author of over 200 publications in international journals and conference proceedings in the fields of signal processing, telecommunications, and navigation systems. He is also the author of over 20 invited book chapters on the above areas with various international publishers. He has also developed techniques for measuring skywave delays in Loran-C receivers and received a Best Paper Award from the International Loran Association (USA), in connection to this work. His research interests are in space-time signal processing and multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) systems, channel modeling, antennas and propagation, cognitive radio, satellite and high altitude platforms communications, and radio navigation systems.,Prof. Mohammed is the recipient of the Blekinge Research Foundation Award “Researcher of the Year Award and Prize” for 2006. He has been a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) since 2004, and received a Fellowship of the U.K.'s Royal Institute of Navigation in 2006 “in recognition of his significant contribution in navigation and in particular to advanced signal processing techniques that have enhanced the capability of Loran-C.” He is an Associate Editor to the International Journal of Navigation and Observation, an Associate Editor for Selected Areas in Telecommunications of Cyber journals, a Board Member of the IEEE Signal Processing Swedish Chapter, a Board Member of the new IET Teknologia journal, a former Board Member of Radio Engineering journal, and TPC member to many international conferences. He has also been a Guest Editor for several special issues of international journals. He is the Swedish representative and member of the management committee to several European Union (EU) projects including Cost 297 Action on “High Altitude Platforms for Communications and Other Services.” In 2008, he led an international editorial team for a Special Issue entitled “Advanced communication techniques and applications for high altitude platforms” of EURASIP International Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking to promote this novel technology and the research activities of EU Cost 297 Action to a wider audience.(Based on document published on 22 August 2011).Show Less
